  • Caring for someone can be costly. The Australian Government recognises this cost and values the support that you offer those that you care for. Carer Gateway: financial help section has information on different types of carer payments and concession card that can help you to continue to care.
  • Services Australia provides information about different payments available for carers.
  • There are also payments available to support you when someone close to you dies. Services Australia provides information in their Death and bereavement section.

  • To find resources for veterans, the My Aged Care: Support for veterans' section gives information about the services provided by the Department of Veterans' Affairs and My Aged Care. There is a video that details the experience of a veteran receiving support services.
  • If you are caring for a veteran and they require an increase in services, the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) website explains the services that are funded by DVA. For example Veterans' Home Care (VHC), Coordinated Veterans' Care (CVC) Program and other home nursing and allied health services are available.
