  • Caring for someone can be costly. The Australian Government recognise this cost and value the support that you offer those that you care for. Carer Gateway: financial help section has information on different types of carer payments and concession card that can help you to continue to care.
  • Services Australia provide information about different payments available for carers.
  • There are also payments available to support you when someone close to you dies. Services Australia provide information in their Death and bereavement section.

  • To find resources for veterans, the My Aged Care: support for veterans section gives information about the services provided by the Department of Veteran Affairs and My Aged Care. There is a video that details the experience of a veteran receiving support services.
  • If you are caring for a veteran and they require an increase in services, the Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) website explains the services that are funded by DVA. For example Veterans Home Care (VHC), Coordinated Veterans' Care (CVC) Program and other home nursing and allied health services are available.
