Competencies describe knowledge, skills and abilities required while performing within a position or role. Competencies can also be assigned to a task that someone is expected to undertake within that role. This page includes information and resources that describe allied health competencies relevant to palliative care and / or competencies for any health professional. It should be noted that these are evolving and changing and you may need to contact your national professional body for the latest updates. Specific palliative care competencies do not currently exist for occupational therapy and physiotherapy, but this will be addressed in the future. Occupational Therapy Australia has produced a Position Paper on Occupational therapy in palliative care (Available to OTA members only.)
