CareSearch respectfully acknowledges the Kaurna people, the traditional custodians of the lands that now locate Flinders University and CareSearch. We would like to acknowledge elders past and present and their spiritual relationship with the land.

Flinders University, CareSearch and reconcilliation

CareSearch and our CareSearch is part of Flinders University in Adelaide. CareSearch recognises that Flinders University was established on the lands of the Kaurna nation with the main Flinders campus located near Warriparinga.

CareSearch is committed to working in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and the health care workforce to meet the palliative and supportive care needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Flinders University acknowledges the traditional owners of the locations the University now operates on and recognises the continued relationship and responsibility to these lands and waters by traditional owners past and present. We recognise that their cultural and heritage beliefs are still important to the living Kaurna people today. We respect their spiritual relationship with their Country.

Flinders University’s collective vision is to foster an environment that recognises and embraces Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, knowledges and cultures. This vision for reconciliation is grounded in the concepts of togetherness, reciprocity, and respect.

Respecting and enduring relationship

Welcome to Country and Acknowledgement of Country are important practices in Australia that formally pay respect to the original custodians of the land. To learn about the general geographical location of larger groupings of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and the traditional owners in your area, you can access an interactive Aboriginal Map by the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies.
