One way for nurses to remain up-skilled, participate in ongoing learning and evidence based practice, is via a journal club. A journal club can be a vehicle for knowledge translation: a way of keeping up to date on palliative care issues relevant to practice. 
Journal clubs usually comprise a group of individuals with a common interest who meet on a regular basis. At these meetings one of the group present the findings from one or more academic journal articles. This allows participants to become more aware of the latest research and evidence for practice in a supportive, non-threatening environment.
