The CareSearch Grey Literature databases capture four sets of information and evidence that may otherwise be missing from the knowledge base for palliative care. The databases are:
- Conference abstracts: Abstracts of presentations relevant to palliative care made to conferences in Australia since 1980. Major palliative conferences have been approached to secure conference proceedings.
- Non-indexed journals: Twelve specialist palliative journals were hand searched to identify any articles that were not indexed on at least one of the four major bibliographic databases (Ovid Medline, Embase, CINAHL, PsycINFO).
- Theses: Higher degree theses relevant to palliative care were identified in conjunction with librarians from Australian universities.
- Grey literature: Materials from government departments and organisations involved with palliative care.
Citation details have been collected and stored in the CareSearch literature databases. These databases can be searched by author, keyword or year on the Search the Literature Database page. Details on how conference abstracts are evaluated can be found on the Understanding the evaluation schema page.
CareSearch has also begun to collect Australian journals relevant to palliative care and not indexed on the major bibliographic databases to provide an online listing of their table of contents. These tables of contents can be found on the Non-indexed journals page.
Authors are invited to provide details of any "missing" Australian literature relevant to palliative care by emailing caresearch@flinders.edu.au
