World Hospice Day 2008

Palliative care and the local community
Palliative care will affect all of us at some stage in our lives as a patient, carer, family member, neighbour or friend. When members of our community need information about palliative care they may go to public sources such as libraries and community centres. We would like to thank the libraries and groups who helped with this important issue in their local community by producing a World Hospice Day 2008 display.

What is World Hospice Day?
World Hospice and Palliative Care Day is a unified day of action to celebrate and support hospice and palliative care around the world. It is organised by the Worldwide Palliative Care Alliance, a network of hospice and palliative care national and regional organisations. World Hospice and Palliative Care Day takes place on the second Saturday of October every year.

The theme for World Day 2008 was "Hospice and palliative care: a human right".

Creating a display
The CareSearch Project Team produced a series of resources that could be used in a display. These included an A3 poster on CareSearch, an information sheet on palliative care and World Hospice Day and Patient and Carer leaflets. We also put together a list of novels and childrens' books.
