Out of the depths and into the shallows: Finding the research evidence in palliative care

Feel out of your depth when it comes to finding research evidence? Yet there is now more emphasis on finding and using research in nursing than ever before. The overall aim of this interactive workshop is to improve your ability to search and find good quality research evidence. The specific goals are to provide you with:

• an understanding of the best sort of evidence you should look for (e.g. systematic reviews)
• a demonstration of the most relevant and useful databases
• handy hints for efficient searching
• an opportunity to ask an expert medical librarian any search-related questions in a supportive environment with colleagues

This workshop is designed to be practical and useful for beginners. All participants will be provided with a handout detailing the topics and websites covered in this session.
