Why carers matter

Caring for someone at the end of their life is a very important role. People who do this help the person they care for and that person’s family and friends. They also help the community by reducing the pressure on our health care system. Carers are vital members of the Australian community, and we are so thankful for what they do.

The CarerHelp Project

CarerHelp project was funded by the Australian Government to develop resources for carers supporting someone with palliative care needs and who is in the last months or years of life. It was developed by St Vincents and Flinders University with support from UTS, Carers Australia, National Rural Health Alliance and Grief Australia.

As the CarerHelp project has now ended, the CareSearch website is providing access to sets of resources developed by the CarerHelp project team as downloadable PDFs.  We invite carers, services and communities to continue to use these resources.

The CarerHelp Resources

We have organised the CarerHelp materials into different sets of information relating to general carer information, information for different community groups, and CarerHelp videos. You can also continue to read the blogs written for CarerHelp and download bundles of materials.

Please note: Some factsheets may need updating as there are changes occurring in health and aged care services and systems. We will be reviewing these materials for their currency in the coming months.
