Attention to detail in palliative care

Palliative care is the total active care of patients at a time when their disease is no longer responsive to curative treatment (1). It encompasses physical, psychological, social and spiritual dimensions. Attention to detail – the key excellence in clinical practice – is necessary in all four dimensions. Although it is an essential skill, it is not easy to define. The essential feature, however, is not making assumptions.
