Title of demonstration discussion: CareSearch – Finding the evidence

Abstract Proper:

Evidence is becoming an increasingly important component in the day to day practice of palliative care. However locating evidence has not always been easy.

CareSearch is a website that is designed to enable users to capture vital evidence through several mechanisms:

Access to an anthology of non-indexed Australian palliative care research and reports from conference proceedings; government and service provider reports; material from refereed journals that is not indexed on the major databases; and theses and treatises
Capacity to build automated search strategies for use in the major electronic databases
Reference to tools and resources in audit, service provision and outcome measures

This session is an introduction to the CareSearch site where the structure, functions and uses of this resource will be outlined.
