The people featured in the TEL videos
Almost everybody featured in the TEL videos are either people with intellectual disability or staff from the disability sector (e.g., DSPs). There are no professional actors in these videos - only real people with lived experience of this content.
There are two different ways to play each video:
- Click on the play button in the video embedded in the module, or
- Click on the Vimeo link provided below (opens in a new window)
Choose whichever method works best for you.
All videos have closed captioning available. Closed captions display the verbal text on the bottom of the screen. You can turn this on by clicking the ‘CC’ button on the bottom of each video, shown in the screenshot below in the red rectangle.
After clicking on ‘CC’, choose ‘English CC’.
Each video has a soundtrack with lots of important information. If you are having trouble hearing sound on the videos, please check to see if your computer’s volume is turned up, and ‘mute’ is not switched on.

When showing the video in which Holly’s pet budgie dies, we are often asked “Was it a real budgie?”
Don’t worry – no budgies were harmed in the making of this video! The budgie shown was a small statuette.
