The people featured in the TEL videos

Almost everybody featured in the TEL videos are either people with intellectual disability or staff from the disability sector (e.g., DSPs). There are no professional actors in these videos - only real people with lived experience of this content.

Playing videos

There are two different ways to play each video:

  • Click on the play button in the video embedded in the module, or
  • Click on the Vimeo link provided below (opens in a new window)

Choose whichever method works best for you.

How to play videos

Closed Captions

All videos have closed captioning available. Closed captions display the verbal text on the bottom of the screen. You can turn this on by clicking the ‘CC’ button on the bottom of each video, shown in the screenshot below in the red rectangle.

How to turn on closed captions

After clicking on ‘CC’, choose ‘English CC’.

Sound

Each video has a soundtrack with lots of important information. If you are having trouble hearing sound on the videos, please check to see if your computer’s volume is turned up, and ‘mute’ is not switched on.

The video’s volume is shown by the blue bars next to the ‘CC’ button.

The budgie

When showing the video in which Holly’s pet budgie dies, we are often asked “Was it a real budgie?”

Don’t worry – no budgies were harmed in the making of this video! The budgie shown was a small statuette.
