NFR – How to find out about current approaches to resuscitation issues in Victorian Hospitals

As part of my Ph.D. concerning a conceptual analysis of advance directives in Victoria, I undertook a review of NFRpolicies and NFR-forms currently in use in the major hospitals in Victoria. The review is primarily aimed at gaining an understanding of the consistency of current medical practice and at obtaining current interpretations of some major concepts used in the theoretical framework of advance directives.

This paper will mainly record some of the unexpected obstacles found during the research process itself as well as report a preliminary analysis of the results found.

I will make some comments on strategies which helped in gaining access to the required information as well as offer some ideas about perceived anxieties and attitudes during the research interactions with the staff in the various locations.

Apart from updating our knowledge about current practice, I am to identify some divisive factors, which hinder research in this area and thereby prevent us from progressing to better practice.
