ExcerptWhile at Our Lady's Hospice in Dublin, I was involved in a trial of combining live improvised music with massage in a Hospice setting. This was a very exciting experience, and I endeavoured to follow through on this idea when returning to Australia.
Since my return Nicholas Nga nd I have been working on introducing this concept to Australia. Nicholas plays the erhu - a Chinese violin with two strings - and sometimes complements the music with electronic sound. We work intuitively, sometimes I follow the pace of the music with my hands sometimes Nicholas creates music to compliment the massage strokes.
In the workshop we would like to demonstrate how we work together and talk about the possible opportunities for this work within Australia.
