End of life alliance model of palliative care service delivery for Queensland project – Process and outcomes

The End of Life Alliance (EOLA) was established In May 2009 following a palliative care sector summit, hosted by Palliative Care Queensland. Following the inaugural meeting of the EOLA, Queensland Health commissioned 'The Statewide Service Delivery Model Consultation Project'.

The objectives of the project were:
 • To review palliative care provision in Queensland;
 • To determine and document current status of palliative care provision in
   Queensland following extensive consultation with stakeholders, and
 • To provide recommendations to Queensland Health with regard to a 
   statewide model for palliative care provision.

Palliative Care Queensland was funded for this project and the EOLA acted as the steering committee, having provided the information, direction and endorsement for the recommendations of the final report.

This presentation will discuss the process of the review and statewide consultation leading to the recommended model of palliative care service delivery in Queensland. Key findings of the consultation will also be summarised.
