The aims of this study were to: (1) examine delirium prevalence and incidence in specialist palliative care inpatient settings; (2) describe how delirium cases were identified and established in relevant epidemiological studies; and (3) discuss the significance of the results to the implementation of routine delirium screening in specialist palliative care inpatient units. The study aims were achieved using a systematic review of the literature reporting delirium epidemiology in palliative care inpatient settings.
