CareSearch respectfully acknowledges the Kaurna people, the traditional custodians of the lands that now locate Flinders University and CareSearch. We would like to acknowledge elders past and present and their spiritual relationship with the land.
CareSearch is part of Flinders University in Adelaide. CareSearch recognises that Flinders University was established on the lands of the Kaurna nation with the main Flinders campus located near Warriparinga. Flinders University acknowledges the traditional owners of the locations the University now operates on and recognises the continued relationship and responsibility to these lands and waters by traditional owners past and present. We recognise that their cultural and heritage beliefs are still important to the living Kaurna people today. We respect their spiritual relationship with their Country.
CareSearch is committed to working in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and the health care workforce to meet the palliative and supportive care needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
To learn about the general geographical location of larger groupings of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and the traditional owners in your area, you can access an interactive Aboriginal Map
by the Australian Institute of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Studies on the ABC website
Also available is the free Welcome to Country iPhone App. The Wel2Country App
uses the GPS function on iPhone to deliver a Welcome to Country alert to the user when they enter a new tribal geo boundary. The app explains the Traditional Owners' culture and heritage protocols across Australia, and provides users with relevant information about Indigenous culture, language groups, and the customs of the tribe within that tribal geo boundary.
