There are a range of RACGP and ACRRM accredited activities and non-accredited educational activities and resources available.
GP Palliative care workshops
Workshops for GPs will be held around Australia in 2016. These workshops will coincide with GP conferences / training events.
The aim of the workshop is to enable GPs to learn to apply a framework of care, based on prognostic trajectories, to identify the palliative care needs of older patients. Experience indicates that the framework facilitates GPs to deliver the right care in the right place at the right time.
Online education module
- These education modules will be offered as an alternative to attending GP palliative care education workshops and will provide support to GPs caring for the palliative needs of older patients in the community and residential aged care.
Access is available through either:
- gplearning (RACGP online portal)
RACGP: 3 Cat 2 QI & CPD points [Activity number: 25940]
- RRMEO (ACRRM online portal)
ACRRM: 2 PRPD points [Activity number: FrameworkPalCareCommunity]
End-of-life clinical audit
- Caring for older Australians living in the community: a framework of palliative care (240kb pdf)
The aim of this activity is to enable GPs to reflect on their management of older patients with advanced chronic conditions living in the community and implement timely, safe and effective palliative care practice.
‘The audit has been very useful and has improved the advanced care planning and palliative care in my practice.’ - GP in metropolitan WA
‘Thank you for this audit, it has been very educational and I feel more confident in managing palliative care patients.’ - GP in rural SA
‘Fantastic to find an audit that is actually useful rather than just a 'process'.’ - GP in regional QLD
