ComPAC Project

The ComPAC project goal is developing evidence based guidelines for a palliative approach for older people in the community setting. They will support and enhance the care provided by medical practitioners, nurses, allied health professionals, care workers, volunteers and Indigenous health workers in the community setting throughout Australia.  The guidelines will be developed in consultation with consumers and key stakeholders.

This forum provides community members with the chance to comment on the project and guidelines as they are written. We welcome your participation in this project.

The COMPAC project is progressing well. The chapters are coming together and the systematic review continues. The Guideline Development Group will be meeting in February to examine the literature that will underpin the evidence based guidelines. We anticipate that the drafted guideline document will be available for public release in mid- March. Please look out for the advertisement in The Australian newspaper or on the COMPAC website for release dates. The drafted guidelines will be available on the website or by request. Those who have nominated will receive a copy directly. If anyone has any queries relating to the COMPAC project, please don’t hesitate to contact myself, Kristi Holloway at k.holloway@ecu.edu.au or Dr Jeremy Drake at j.drake@ecu.edu.au. Thanks for your continued interest in the project.

Kind Regards

Kristi
