Below are some troubleshooting tips

How to change the Text Size of the whole web page.

By clicking on one of the three AAA's at the top of a CareSearch page you can increase or decrease the font in the content area of the CareSearch website. If you would like to adjust the text on the whole screen you will need to do this using your computers web browser settings (the program you run to view web pages).

If you are using Internet Explorer or Firefox as your web browser

  • Select the View tab in the menu bar
  • Select Text Size
  • Select from the list of text sizes to reach the desired size.

If you are using Safari as your web browser

  • Select View on the menu bar
  • Select 'make text bigger' or 'make text smaller' from the dropdown list
  • Also in the dropdown list are quick keys that let you do this from the keyboard
  • for example by holding down Control and + you will make text larger
  • by holding down Control and - you will make text smaller

Solving problems

Q Why can I only see a blank page after the PDF has opened?

A Perhaps the view is zoomed into a blank part of the document. Use the dropdown view menu (bottom left hand corner of the screen) to select a suitable view - 100% or 'Fit Width' are usually best.

If you are still having problems, and are using Microsoft Explorer 4 or 5 for the PC, try clicking on the link to the PDF file with your right mouse button. This will bring up a small menu - if you select "Save Target As" from this you will be able to save the file and open it outside the browser.

Searching PDFs

Q How do I search within a PDF?

A When you click on the link to a PDF, the document will open in your browser window. A toolbar will appear above the document, featuring tools that can help you view and search the document. Hovering your mouse over the icons, without clicking, will let you know you what each of them does. The search box is especially useful. Type your search word or phrase into the search box and select enter to locate your search in the document. You can move to other instances of your search by selecting the next or back icons located next to the search box.

Adding CareSearch Newsletters to your safe senders list

To receive newsletters from CareSearch, you may need to put our newsletters, CNIN and @CARESEARCH and their associated email address on your safe senders list. If you are not receiving newsletters it may be because @CARESEARCH or CNIN is not being correctly identified by your company’s security program. Because our newsletters are in an HTML format newsletter with multiple images, some workplace email systems will incorrectly think they are spam. This means that the newsletter may get caught up in your company’s spam filter, or may automatically be relegated to your personal spam folder.

To put CNIN and @CARESEARCH on your safe sender list, add caresearch@flinders.edu.au to your list of safe senders in your address book, or, see if it was mistakenly delivered to your spam folder. Once you have found the email, right click it and select “Junk email” and “Add sender to safe senders list”.
