About PCC4U
|
|
The PCC4U project is an initiative of the Australian Government
Department of Health and Ageing, through the National Palliative Care
Program. The PCC4U project aims to:
-
Promote and sustain the inclusion in all health care training of the role of palliative care and its principles and practice in the care of people who are dying.
-
Support the inclusion of palliative care education as an integral part of all medical, nursing, and allied health undergraduate and entry to practice training, and ongoing professional development.
-
Inform a whole of workforce approach to palliative care education in all health education and training.
The specific activities being undertaken to achieve the goals of the PCC4U
project are based on the recommendations made in earlier phases of the
PCC4U project, and include six main components:
- Active promotion of the uptake of the PCC4U resources in all universities in Australia that offer medical, nursing, and allied health undergraduate and entry to practice training.
- Maintenance and nurturing of the networks that have developed between participating universities and their faculties.
- Extension of networks to include the universities and faculties which take up the curriculum in the future.
- Development of strategies for the ongoing sustainability of the PCC4U project.
- Maintainance and distribution of the existing newsletter for stakeholders.
- Maintenance of the information website.

The PCC4U Project is led by Queensland University of Technology in collaboration with Queensland Government, Flinders University, Charles Darwin University and Curtin University of Technology. Funded by Australian Government through the National Palliative Care Program.
